Course Description

Trauma-informed care has been a buzz word in the mental health field for some time; however, can you really be trauma informed if oppressive practices and ideologies constitute your approach to mental health treatment? An examination of the ways culture, race, and power dynamics impact treatment is critical if psychedelic-assisted therapy is to be safe and effective for those in need. While psychedelic-assisted therapy training programs offer an introduction to medicine work, continued training is needed when providing culturally sensitive care. What are the ethical obligations of the "psychedelic therapist" when working cross-culturally and cross-consciously? How do we translate concepts of culturally informed theories into practice?  to learn more.
