Course Description

Providing gender affirming care is an increasingly crucial skill for clinicians, necessitating the establishment of a safe and inclusive environment for transgender, gender non-conforming, and non-binary (TGNB) clients. This workshop offers an in-depth exploration of the historical context of medicalized trans care and its profound impact on TGNB individuals.

Participants will gain insights into the tangible consequences of institutionalized transphobia on the lives of TGNB people, emphasizing the importance of clinicians in mitigating traumatic experiences through the implementation of gender affirming care and informed consent practices. The presenter will conclude the workshop by covering gender affirming procedures and outlining the responsibilities that clinicians bear in providing gender affirming care.
