Course Description

Participants will be introduced to the Internal Family Systems model (IFS) and its application for treating trauma. IFS is an evidence based psychotherapy that helps people to heal through accessing, connecting to and having compassion for their protective and wounded inner parts. This workshop will include instruction as well as experiential exercises.

This course will allow you to:

  • Have a basic understanding of the IFS model

  • Be able to conceptualize Self and Self energy's ability to heal

  • Be introduced to the application of the IFS model in the healing of trauma

  • Integrate guided meditations to help clients understand their parts

Meet Your Instructor


Karen Klein Berman, M.Ed., LCSW, is a certified IFS therapist specializing in the healing of trauma. Karen has a private practice in New York City and also serves on the staff of a community mental health clinic in Yonkers, New York where she has been introducing clinicians to the Internal Family Systems model. Karen is a program assistant for Level 1 and Level 2 training and is co-director of the NYC Metro IFS Workshop Series. Karen is passionate about IFS and looks forward to introducing the model to fellow therapists.
